October Message from Conference Minister Rev. Lorraine Ceniceros
As autumn settles across the plains, we find ourselves reflecting on the powerful moments we shared during the 2025 General Synod. From worship to witness, from workshops to warm reunions, the Spirit moved among us—and we are grateful for every heart and hand that helped make it happen.
Now, with Synod behind us, we turn our attention to what lies ahead.
In recognition of the extraordinary volunteer efforts from our conference, staff, leaders, and lay members alike, during General Synod, we are choosing a more accessible format for our Annual Meeting this year.
Deep and Wide: The 2025 KO Annual Meeting
Saturday, November 8 | 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | via Zoom
To ease travel burdens and reduce costs for attendees, our Annual Meeting will be held virtually. This format allows us to gather in spirit and purpose while honoring the time and energy so many have already given.
Visit the Annual Meeting webpage and register now!
Each congregation may send two delegates, in addition to their authorized ministers. We hope every congregation will be represented and every authorized minister will honor their covenant to be present.
Alongside our usual business, this year’s meeting will feature two special reports:
· Synod Local Arrangements Committee Report – A heartfelt reflection on our conference’s role in hosting and supporting the 2025 General Synod. Come celebrate the behind-the-scenes work that made it all possible.
· Holy Conversations Outcome – Over the past months, our conference has engaged in deep, prayerful dialogue around our fears and what matters most to us. We’ll share what emerged from these conversations and how they will shape our path forward.
These are heavy days for many across our country. Political division, economic uncertainty, and social unrest can leave us weary and disoriented. Yet as people of faith, we are called to be both honest about the pain and hopeful about the promise.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.” John 1:5
In every season of struggle, God’s presence remains steadfast. May we be gentle with ourselves and generous with one another. May our churches be places of refuge, resilience, and renewal. And may we continue to walk together in love, even when the road is hard.
To everyone who served, showed up, and shared their gifts during General Synod—thank you. Your hospitality, leadership, and love were a living testament to the heart of the Kansas-Oklahoma Conference. To all have and are still taking part in the Holy Conversations, thank you as well. Your honesty and vulnerability are helping shape the Board’s discernment and plans for the year ahead.
Further details about the Annual Meeting, including agenda items, reports, documents, and ways to participate will be posted on the 2025 Annual Meeting webpage in the coming days. Be sure to follow us on social media and check your inbox for updates as well!
In the meantime, may this season bring you rest, renewal, and reminders of God’s abundant grace amid it all.
Walking this journey of faith alongside you,
Lorraine
